Its been a while since I wrote a blog post and I thought now would be a great time to do so. We just recently completed a big basement finishing project and in doing so I created a new space just for me and my studio. I’ve been getting quite a few questions about what I shoot with and how I set up the studio so I thought I would write a post about just that, my gear with links. But before I do that, I thought I would share some photos of the new space:
For cameras I have two bodies – Canon 5DMIII and Canon 7DMII:
For wildlife I use a Sigma 150-600 and a Canon 100-400L:
My main light for my studio is an Alien Bees AB800:
And the frame and fabric for the standup reflector I use:
For the rest of my gear, here is a link to my Amazon website to show you what else I shoot with:
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
Last night was my son’s first homecoming dance. He was accompanied by a long time family friend who was very excited to go to another homecoming dance and spend a few hours with him. I am pretty sure they had a good time despite the fire alarm being triggered twice by the popcorn machine. I couldn’t resist a few minutes with them in the studio before they left. So super cute. ♥
This month my daughter turns 11. So today’s story is how she spent her afternoon while I captured it on my Velvet.
First a trip to the Dr for some shots.
Then packing for a sleep-over party this weekend.
And finally the obligatory birthday portraits.
Now keep the circle going by visiting the super talented Anna VanDemark to see her amazing March shots.
Its a brand new year with promise and hope (and a new 52 week project for 2016). I have so many ideas about what I would like to do this year but first my kids reminded me that I haven’t used the studio in quite a long time. So I decided that it was time to get some new portraits of them.
And why are they growing up so fast??!
The second day started out with another Studio Light class but this time I used the creepy baby to pose as our model. Then I had a ton of fun finding little things to shoot all around the River Walk for my Golden Hour Macro class. I finished it up with a shot of the birds at dusk swarming all around my balcony.
I had the pleasure of attending and speaking at the Click Away conference this year in San Antonio, TX. It was another whirlwind inspiration, shooting, learning and friendship. I am just now home and getting caught up with the many images I shot while attending the conference. Here is a sampling of that day including the last image from my Studio Light Class where one of our classmates volunteered to be a model.
I will continue to post more of the photos from Click Away as the month goes on.
